the 8th tooth

Sonja's 8th tooth arrived yesterday. #5 and #6 were quite painful, but this one appeared nearly unnoticed.

She's enjoying our new place. She goes into each room and shuts the door behind herself and then knocks on the door. It's quite fun. She also walks around in circles underneath the kitchen counter and in between the legs of her high chair. She's tried to climb the built-in shelves in the bathroom and stands up on the couch to see the cars go by each morning.

At our 1 year check up, Sonja weighed in just under 20 pounds (25-50%) and was 30.5 inches (90%) tall. She weighed over 12 pounds at 2 months, so she's definitely slowed down on the weight gain. She looks like a little girl now, rather than a baby. She makes a lot of noise, most of which is still incoherent but we can tell parts of "hello", "mama", "dada", "ner" for Auntie Jenner, and "na" for Sonja. She gives high fives, will bonk your head with hers (sometimes without prompting!), and still sucks on her middle 2 fingers when she's tired.

We're having a great time and look forward to having her open our Christmas presents for us!

Here is Sonja with her net hat and mits she got for her birthday. For the first few days after she got them, she would ask to put them on while playing around the house. She also has started to climb into her toy box drawer.

Sorry for the limited posting lately. My computer screen was broken for a few weeks and we were in the middle of moving. I'll post some new picutes soon of Sonja's very own bedroom. Our address is pretty much the same, but we are now in number 203.

Reliving the magic

One year ago today, Kari's contractions started. We figure since Sonja took so long being born, it is alright to take a little extra time to celebrate her birth. We decided to take her to the places we went while Kari was in the early stages of labor. This morning we went for pumpkin pie at Grand Central Bakery. Then this evening we went to get calzones at Pazzo's and ice cream at Molly Moon's. Sonja liked it all....especially the ice cream.
