Setting the Curve

This past week, I took Sonja in for her 4 month check up. We've been curious about her weight the past few weeks as she's dropped a couple feedings and doesn't seem as interested in eating. She looks proportional and hasn't grown out of many clothes. So I was quite surprised to find out that 14 pounds 13 ounces and 25 inches tall put Sonja in the 95% for weight and 90% for height compared to other 4 month olds! Already setting the curve :)

Sonja also received some vaccinations at this visit; 1 oral vaccine and 2 shots. She didn't seem too pleased with the situation, but recovered in a couple minutes. She's definitely becoming more aware of what's going on around her. Each week she's more and more engaged with sights and sounds.

Hopefully, we'll have a few videos to post in the coming weeks.

Lake House

Last week was my spring break, so we took some time to get out of the city and up to a lake house. We all had a great time.

A normal 4 month old

In the midst of preparing and packing for a trip north for spring break, I forgot to post Sonja's last ultrasound results. Her hips have corrected to "a normal 4 month old" and she doesn't need to wear the Pavlik harness any longer! We're very thankful for her progress and pleased with the care she's received. From now on, her hips will be monitored via x-ray every few months to ensure that they're growing correctly.

I really enjoy seeing Sonja wearing her sleepers at night, but I think Ryan misses the morning routine he and Sonja enjoyed. He would help her out of the harness each morning and receive the biggest grins at the sound of the velcro boots coming off! Sonja would straighten her legs out as fast as she could and start wiggling. Early this morning, I went to get Sonja (at 5:15) and she'd kicked off her big blanket and had straightened her legs 90 degrees in the air, kicking furiously at the remaining blanket. She went right back to sleep and didn't wake up until almost 9 am. Usually, our little alarm clock wakes us up earlier!

Sonja's Raspberries

Sonja learned how to do Raspberries recently. You can hear Kari in the background helping her along.

Learning to Stand

So I realized today that I never posted any pictures of Sonja in the first few days that she was learning how to stand up (AKA, the days right after she didn't have to wear her harness all the time). She was really thrilled and excited and learning how to do something new. It was great to see someone so truly happy.

She still loves standing. When I go to talk to her when she is laying down on her back, she will only put up with the conversation for so long before she starts fussing around and popping her legs out straight and arching her back. As soon as I help get up on her feet, she is completely content (for a few minutes).

Up next: rolling over (if yesterday morning was any sign, she'll do it within the week)
