5 months

Time flies. Such a cliche, but so true. It seems like Sonja's been here forever and that just yesterday she arrived. Things have changed so much. I had no idea what to anticipate, but she has changed everything. Her daily routine dictates my routine. When she sleeps, I work as quickly as I can. When she's awake, we go for walks, cook, and play downstairs in the exersaucer. I'm glad that she's developed a routine. Knowing what she needs and when to expect changes has been quite helpful.

We've recently been trying to make it easier for her to get to sleep at night and considered moving her into the bedroom so that she has some consistency. Some nights, we'd put her in the play pen in the bedroom so we could be in the living room. Other nights, we'd put our things in the bedroom and put her to rest out in her crib. For the first few months, our small space was a welcome blessing. Not too much to clean, a nice circular path to walk her to sleep, no need for a baby monitor or the acquisition of too many plastic toys, and lots of light during the daytime. We'd hoped a 2 bedroom would become available. But...it's not here yet. So we must make some changes for this season and continue to be patient.

Sonja's current activities include: playing on the activity mat and reaching for her rings, toys, and animals, stuffing anything she can find in her mouth (no teeth yet), sucking on her two middle fingers and holding that hand in with the other hand, trying to sit up while in the carseat, falling asleep while eating with one hand covering her eyes, smiling and giggling at Ryan, and enjoying bath time.
