Communication

Tonight, we were sitting around my aunt and uncle's table enjoying some dessert and conversation.

Sonja wandered out of the dining room and around the corner. I went to check out what she was doing. I found her picking up our shoes and coats. Since she seemed safe, I returned to the dining room. We continued to visit and finish our snacks. One by one, Sonja brought each of us our shoes and our coats.

It was time to leave. She was tired and had enough of our chatting.

So, without any words, Sonja communicated to us that she was done for the night.

We drove home and she went right to sleep.

The Dress

A few years ago, while Kari and I were in Norway, we went to a little shop in Trondheim and bought this dress. We didn't know if we would ever have a little girl or not, but for some reason both of us really liked the dress and decided we could always give it someone else if we never used it. But now we have a little girl and the dress is going to be used. It won't really fit Sonja for a few years, but we figure we can get some great pictures of her in it until it fits.

Sonja and Owl

This is the last picture of Sonja with Owl. There are two ways to look at it:
1) Owl was released back into the wild during a bike ride in Stanley Park in Vancouver. It just wasn't fair to keep a wild animal in an apartment.
2) Owl died. This is why kids shouldn't play with endangered animals.
Either way, Sonja is dealing with the loss amazingly well. She is so strong.

2010 Olympics

Kari and Sonja got to attend some hockey matches over the weekend up in Vancouver. I'll let Kari write more about how it went later, but here are some pictures of Sonja at the game.
